The summer 2007 program is offered by the Virginia Earth Science Collaborative which is a partnership of nine institutes of higher education and non-profits and more than seventy school divisions. Initial funding is provided through a competitive Mathematics and Science Partnership (MSP) grant funded through Title II, Part B of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Additional funding comes from the F. H. Levinson Fund of the Peninsula Community Foundation, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Curry School of Education, and the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia.
