NOTE: Due to a cancellation, the Sounds of the Big Bang talk is now at 1:00 p.m.
No reservations or tickets are necessary. There is no admission charge. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please try to arrive early to secure a seat.

Chemistry Magic Show Flash and color changes will enthrall children of all ages. Chemical principles will be demonstrated with entertaining examples as the Alpha Chi Sigma Chemistry Fraternity demonstration team struts their stuff.

Marine Biology and Coral Reef Ecology Fred Diehl and students will talk about their experiences at the annual U.Va. Marine Biology and Coral Reef Ecology class on the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas. |

Sounds of the Big Bang! Have you ever wondered what the Big Bang sounded like? Come hear and feel the acoustic waves that moved through the hot gas in the early universe. Mark Whittle of the Astronomy Deparment has converted these waves into audible sound and will tell you what these waves tell us about the structure and evolution of our universe. |

Public Night at McCormick Observatory Note Special Date: Friday October 1, 2004, 9:00-11:00 p.m. Visit the McCormick Observatory for the chance to observe stars and other objects through the historic McCormick telescope, see a slide show, and tour of the Observatory.
