ASTRONOMY 1230
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Aug 31 2009: Hi Astronomy 1230 Class, Our first class is Monday Aug 31 in Clark 107. At that time, I'll explain in more detail about the evening lab sessions. Some of you have been emailing about your specific night. Don't worry -- there are no "specific nights" to which you are assigned. When class gets going, you will be free to attend our evening observational labs on whatever evenings suit your schedule (Mon 9_11pm, Tu-Thurs 8-11pm), though of course you will need to take advantage of clear weather when it occurs. The first week of labs (this) I WILL ask you to commit to one evening so we can give you a brief orientation session, to help both with your knowledge of the night sky and our lab/telescope area. About texts for our class: you will need to purchase three separate items for this class (the UVa produced 1230 Lab Manual; the Edmund Mag-5 Star Atlas; and the plastic "Star Wheel"), all available at the UVa Hall Bookstore. I look forward to seeing you all in class on Monday the 31st. regards Prof Whittle. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
