My primary research interests have been in astrometry, in particular
what may be learned from the accurate measurement of stellar positions
and their changes with time. The observations are direct images of the
particular star field. They lead to the determination of fundamental
physical parameters, such as the luminosity and the mass, by way of
trigonometric parallax (distance) measurement and binary orbital
analyses for relatively nearby stars and substellar objects. With
renewed interest by NASA and NSF in the nearby stars in support of
future space missions, we have expanded this work to include
observations from Chile, an excellent site.
