Fan Mountain Observatory FOBOS Optics
There are 4 optical subsystems in the instrument. The first three are located in the focal plane module shown below and to the right. The last is the spectrograph itself, shown below and to the left.

- The Acquisition System is housed in the focal plane module and allows the observer to see the telescope's field of view for the purpose of doing rough acquisition of the target star.
- The Guide System is housed in the focal plane module and allows the observer to do fine alignment of the target star onto a science fiber, and to monitor guiding during an exposure.
- The Calibration System is housed in the focal plane module and acts to provide calibration light to the bench spectrograph.

- The Bench Spectrograph is housed in the an enclosure and provides the mechanism for dispersing target star light and collecting the spectra.
