Cormasstool

Cormasstool is a widget-based IDL package modified from Spextool which was written by Mike Cushing and Bill Vacca for SpeX spectrograph data.

Code Specifications:
  • Spextool/Cormasstool will *NOT* run under versions of IDL earlier than v5.6 and there are no plans to make it compatible with them.
  • IDL Astronomy User's Library is necessary and can be downloaded from the following URL: http://idlastro.gsfc.nasa.gov/homepage.html
  • Currently works only under Unix, Linux or Mac operating systems.
  • Spextool v3.4 is the final version and is necessary for Cormasstool. Please download my latest version of Spextool below which is slightly different from the version listed on the IRTF webpage.

The raw CorMASS data are saved as two planes: read 1 and read 2. If you would like to view the raw images in IDL using ATV or some other fits viewing program, you will first need to difference the two reads. John Wilson has written a short batch mode program in IDL to do this: If you are using Cormasstool, you can use xcm_imgtool to view the raw (undifferenced) fits files.

Note that Cormasstool automatically differences the reads when the fits images are read in so you do not need to input into Cormasstool the differenced images. However, do make sure that your image names have a ".fits" extension.
