The SDSS spectrum of Mkn 34 is shown, together with the five HST filters discussed in this paper. F673N and F467M provide red and blue continuum images (F467M requires a small correction to remove H$\gamma$ + [OIII] $\lambda4363$); F547M, F410M and FQUVN provide emission line images for [OIII] $\lambda5007$, [NeIII] $\lambda3868$, and [OII] $\lambda3727$ respectively, after appropriate continuum subtraction using a scaled F467M image. Since the F547M image has the highest signal-to-noise ratio, it is also used as a green continuum image, after appropriate subtraction of a scaled [OIII] $\lambda5007$ image.
