Al-Khwarizmi, Muhammed ibn Musa (ca. 780-ca. 850)
    

Persian mathematician who wrote a treatise about algebraic methods whose Arabic title was distorted into the word algebra. Eric Weisstein's World of Math He used the Hindu number zero, Eric Weisstein's World of Math which was then introduced to Europe when Al-Khwarizmi's work was translated by Fibonacci.
