Armstrong, Henry (1848-1937)

English organic chemist who challenged Arrhenius's ionic theory. Armstrong proposed an alternate theory in which water is a complex saturated with the gas "hydrone." He maintained that vapor pressure was a measure of the concentration of free hydrone molecules.
