Beguyer de Chancourtois, Alexandre-Émile (1820-1886)
    

French geologist who arranged the elements in order of increasing atomic weights. He plotted the elements on a cylinder, which he called the telluric helix. The paper, which used geological terms and was published without the diagram, was completely ignored until the work of Mendeléev.
