I am currently a Research Associate at the University of Virginia Department of Astronomy. In April 2011, I will join the University of Alberta Department of Physics as an Assistant Professor.
My primary research focuses on multi-wavelength observations of compacts objects (white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes). My favorite objects to study are X-ray binaries, neutron stars or black holes that accrete material from a nearby donor star. Although their name comes from the fact that they emit brightly in the X-rays, X-ray binaries are also observable across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. I also have strong interests in Education & Public Outreach. I hope these web pages show you a little about who I am, what I do, and why I do it.
