Papers

Characterizing the Dark Current of the SU320-1.7T1 InGaAs Array at Cryogenic Temperatures (PDF format)

In Spring 2004, I wrote my undergraduate thesis. The process is the important part of the paper, as there are some discrepancies in the values.

Work Dump

This is an area for things I do at work, so the links will come and go as needed.

Gain for the HAWAII-1 engineering-grade array

FETs that were matched for the HAWAII array for FANIRCAM. (FANNICAM)

Analysis of InGaAs linear arrays 1.7micron (bare, as the array has no gain control)

Comparing the linear and 320x240 data (same problem as above)

TA Class

Ok, here is an area for the students I TA.

Quick tutorial to determining Alt-Az/Equatorial coordinates in Starry Night Backyard

UVA Astro Links

VAIL - The Virginia Astronomical Instrumentation Lab.  I work in the IR division, under Mike Skrutskie and John Wilson.  Very fun place, IR Instrumentation rocks!

Howard Powell's Webpage - Website of the Linux dude and co-systems administrator for our dept.  (I co-exist with him too.)
(Shh... he's really an alien from the planet Copacabana!!)

Heather returns to UVA for a M.S. in Astronomy(for 2004-2005). She received a BA in Astronomy-Physics in Spring 2004 from UVA. Currently, she is working with the IR group in VAIL on a project for Sensors Unlimited, as well as assisting in the refurbishment of Fan's 31-inch Tinsley Refractor. She also was a TA Fall 2004 for ASTR 313: Intro to Observational Astronomy, a course geared towards Astronomy and Astronomy-Physics majors. Her favorite things are soldering, assembling stuff, painting and scraping paint. Favorite astronomical object: M81 (Bode's Galaxy).
