Below is a summary of the science team discussion of catalog update items on the 28 May 2002 telecon. "Closed" items refer to those in which the science team endorses the proposed procedure. Further information may come up for review as the update progresses. Open items are coded "blue" if discussion is largely on track with a path to closure apparent. Open items are "red" if a conclusion is not readily apparent or if more information is pending which could redirect the course of action.

Missing R1 Sources X X P Closed: These sources should be included. Rae has requested that, if possible, a query be generated that will produce the list of included sources. A list of cntr numbers of the included sources could be provided in lieu of a query as well.

CAT Flag X X X I X Open: Proposal is expected for discussion on the June 6 telecon. Companion proposal to be generated by extended source team for similar flux-quality flag for XSC.

Source Designation X X X I X Closed: Adopt the extra character in RA and Dec. Use IAU Truncation method to establish designations. Check for duplicate designations and resolve with additional character.

Astrometric Uncertainties X X P X Open: Requires analysis of independent astrometric reference catalog (e.g. UCAC) and internal statistics of overlaps before decisions. Sentiment is that if corrections are largely small (10-20%) they should be reported in explanatory supplement rather than updated in tables.

Saturated R1 Seeing Corrections X X P Open: Data currently on the table do not paint a self-consistent picture of the efficacy of this correction. This issue requires further study and discussion. Saturated R1 colors are clearly out of line with colors determined from unsaturated measurements. The culprit appears to be primarily the H-band. We should not apply corrections if limited to our current understanding of the issue.
