Subject: List of hpm stars for parallax program
Cc: mike@ast.cam.ac.uk, rdscholz@aip.de

Hi Phil and Todd,

here is the list of stars to be included in your parallax
program. There are apmpm numbers (from our pilot program
of the new high proper motion survey, presented at the
NStars Workshop) and apm_ numbers (from the next about 70
survey fields). The UKST field number (fno) is also given.
I decided to make a selection based on the proper motion,
i.e. only those APM discoveries are included, for which
the pm exceeds 0.7 arcsec/yr.

In addition, there are three stars without apm_no (and
with proper motions not as large), which
were discovered as nearby candidates in our Calar Alto
spectroscopic observations (also presented at the NStars
Workshop).

All positions, proper motions and photometry are from APM
measurements of UKST plates, except the proper motions of
the non-APM stars, which were taken from the NLTT. Spectral
types are from SAAO observations. From the stars with sp.
types only those were included, for which the spectroscopic
parallax turned out to be less than 25 pc.

Please, let me know about the progress of your measurements,
and whether you need more stars (e.g. bright newly discovered
stars with 0.5 < pm < 0.7 arcsec/yr). Can you tell me again,
how faint you can go? I got an e-mail from Rene Mendez, who
told me about a parallax program at CTIO for stars with
12 < V < 22. I assume, this is your program (?).

Best wishes
Ralf

P.S.: Please, let me know if you need finding charts.
