The GLIMPSE, MIPSGAL, and Hi-GAL surveys from the Spitzer Space Telescope and Herschel Space Observatory reveal Infrared Dark Clouds (IRDCs) and other star formation activity in the Milky Way. The galactic longitude range is roughly 31.7 to 33.8 degrees, (right to left) and the latitude is roughly -0.35 to 0.35 degrees. Blue is 8 μm, green is 24 μm, and red is 70 μm.
